Man Charged with Fleeing the Scene After Long Island Accident

|

Being involved in a motor vehicle accident can have potentially serious effects for people in New York City. Not only is there the potential for injury, but those who cause accidents may also face criminal charges if they have violated New York traffic law. As a result, they could be sentenced to jail time, have their driver’s license suspended or be fined.

A 21-year-old Baldwin man is reportedly facing criminal charges for his involvement in a recent accident. He has been charged with driving without a proper license and fleeing the scene of an accident where someone was injured. It remains unknown to the public at this time whether the man was an unlicensed driver, or if his license had been revoked or suspended for previous driving infractions. It was reported that he turned himself in to law enforcement. It was not disclosed, however, whether he will plead guilty to the charges he is facing.

According to reports, the man allegedly crashed his vehicle into the wall of a church in Long Island in the early morning hours. He and his 20-year-old passenger purportedly fled the scene. The passenger was later taken to a local hospital, but no information was disclosed regarding his injuries or condition.

Traffic violations can have serious consequences with long-term implications for New Yorkers. As such, people facing such charges, particularly those considered criminal violations, may find it of benefit to work with a legal professional. An attorney may help defend the charges against them, as well ensure that their rights are upheld.
